SUMMARY:Executive Education: Lightning Talk on Behavioural Science
DESCRIPTION:In this session Redzo Mujcic\, Associate Professor of Behavioural Science and Course Director for Executive Diploma in Behavioural Science will deliver a lightning talk on Behavioural Science. Redzo’s research includes work on human feelings in the workplace and society (job satisfaction\, happiness\, autonomy\, envy\, extreme distress\, mental health)\, as well as how past experiences and outcomes influence social interactions\, human cooperation\, and preferences.  \nThis session will provide a short overview of some key concepts and applications in behavioural science and human behaviour. We will look at the role of incentives\, social comparisons\, framing\, and cognitive biases in everyday human decisions. Our emphasis will be on the empirical and experimental evidence that has policy relevance for modern workplaces and society. \nThis lightning talk is taken from the Warwick Executive Diplomas programme. The Warwick Executive Diplomas are a suite of part-time courses designed to address key strategic challenges that organisations are facing. Each Diploma combines the latest academic theory with practical application and a focus on a specific area of leadership challenge. \nIf you are considering studying an Executive Diploma at Warwick Business School\, our team can provide an overview of Executive Education and how we can work with you to tailor our programmes to your learning needs. \nRegister here. \nGo to top

SUMMARY:The Global Research Conference on Caste\, Business and Society - University of Bath School of Management
DESCRIPTION:Caste is a socio-cultural system that affects over two billion people in South Asia and the global South Asian diaspora by placing individuals on an arbitrarily determined social hierarchy that provides them with unequal rights and privileges. Despite its pervasive influence in all spheres of social and economic life of caste-practising individuals\, caste has only recently received serious attention in scholarly work in management and organisation studies. \nThis conference attempts to create a platform that can bring scholars studying caste in contexts of work and business together to share latest research\, help one another to develop ideas\, and create new collaborations. \nThe conference will begin with a keynote session by a leading international scholar\, followed by a series of research sessions where scholars will present their work for feedback\, early-career development sessions and plenary sessions that bring together the day’s threads of conversation. There will also be many networking opportunities. \nRegistration will open on Friday 5 April 2024. \nThere will be a limited number of hybrid sessions for those who cannot travel.

SUMMARY:Will AI reduce or reinforce inequality in language learning? - Hult International Business School
DESCRIPTION:AI’s role in language learning\n\nIn the AI-powered evolution of language learning\, it would be easy to overlook the impact artificial intelligence could have on inclusion and equality. For decades\, the demand for ‘native’ teachers has dominated the conversation between students and language providers. Learners have come to recognize the valuable experience that ‘non-native’ speakers can share with them\, but now the question isn’t whether you want a native or a non-native teacher – it’s whether you want a human at all. \nWe recently reported on how AI is enhancing language learning for students and teachers alike. Now\, we explore some of the DEIB issues that often go overlooked in language learning\, how AI is already impacting inclusion\, and its potential to reduce or reinforce inequalities. \n\nRegister here: https://www.hultef.com/en/insights/events-webinars/ai-language-webinar/

SUMMARY:The Cash-Flow Channel of Monetary Policy - Evidence from Billions of Transactions - NHH Norwegian School of Economics
DESCRIPTION:We present novel findings on the impact of monetary policy on consumer spending behavior using a recently assembled high-frequency household expenditure panel. Leveraging comprehensive weekly electronic transaction-level data for all individuals in Norway in the period 2006-2018\, our study sheds light on the high-frequency consumption response to monetary policy through changes in fast moving debt interest expenses. \nWe employ several identification strategies\, including household specific interest rate shocks arising from a natural experiment as well as estimated monetary policy shocks.  We find that 100 NOK higher interest expenses lead to around 30 NOK lower consumption on average in the first year\, and the effect materializes gradually within the first three months. Our results indicate the presence of a substantial and rapid cash-flow channel of monetary policy.
