Air freight is an industry that’s not frequently discussed, but one without which the world as we know it wouldn’t be able to survive. ULDs are sturdy, designed to withstand the constant wear and tear of being loaded on and off aircrafts, placed on rolling doilies and being picked up by forklifts. They’re also made to resist unfavorable weather conditions, such as extreme heat or oscillating shifts in moisture levels. Despite their sturdiness however, they must be maintained in order to have them serve their purpose. Consider the capacity
Not ULDs are made the same, and they come in different sizes depending on the airplane they’re meant to be fitted to. The capacity of the pallets is measured in positions. Each half-width occupies one position. Traditionally, each row in a compartment consists of two positions that can be occupied. It’s also important for storage inside the aircraft so that the ULDs don’t move against each other in a way that can damage their integral structure.

Account for the risk factors
Some containers are more of a handful than others which means you must show them special care. The age factor is one of the main things to take into account. A container that’s twenty-five years old is going to see more wear and tear compared to one that’s only been in use for five months. The material they’re made of can sometimes not be in stock anymore, in which case the owner should stop using them and replace them with newer alternatives.
